10 YEAR MANUFACTURING GUARANTEE

THE GUARANTEE APPLIES WHEN:

  1. All surface preparation and product application instructions for the liquid rubber have been followed in full;
  2. The complete treatment, preparation and protection system as recommended has been applied properly;
  3. Two to three coats liquid rubber have been applied totalling a dry film thickness of 80 microns or more;
  4. General maintenance, if required, due to fair wear and tear from elements, as well as one re-coat of total surface, +- year 5 to 7, to keep extending the life of the product and painted surface. General maintenance and re-coat, as mentioned, is for the client’s own account.
  5. Conditions relating to the below mentioned extent and duration of the guarantee must be adhered to.
  6. The liquid rubber purchase has been registered by the client, the end user, within 30 days of invoice date.

PRODUCT INSTRUCTIONS

  • Remove all dust, dirt, loose and flaking material or any other barrier to adhesion from the surface on which the product will be applied; and
  • All surfaces must be dry, clean and free of oil for the product to be successfully applied.

PRIMING OF SURFACES

Priming of Iron Roofs / Iron Surfaces
  • New iron surfaces need to be fully degreased and cleaned, removing all traces of oil, dirt, dust or other contaminants or materials.
  • Prime the entire surface with Roof Rubber Rust Converter & Etch Primer.
  • Rusted surfaces need to be abraded back to a bright metal surface, free of rust and then primed with Roof Rubber Rust Converter & Etch Primer. Coastal areas – minimum 2x coats of Roof Rubber Rust Converter & Etch Primer.
  • Previously painted iron surfaces should be cleaned with a high pressure water jet, removing all loose and flaking paint and left to dry and then primed with Roof Rubber Latex Bonding Liquid. Coastal areas – minimum 2x coats of Roof Rubber Latex Bonding Liquid
Priming of Tiled Roofs / Non Metal Surfaces
  • After proper cleaning, all porous and granular surfaces should be sealed.
  • Previously painted areas should be cleaned with a high pressure water jet, removing all loose and flaking paint and left to dry and then primed with Roof Rubber Latex Bonding Liquid. Coastal areas – minimum 2x coats of Roof Rubber
    Latex Bonding Liquid.

COATING OF SURFACES

  • Application with brush, roller or airless spray.
  • Stir contents thoroughly before every use.
  • Apply the first undiluted coat and allow a minimum of 4 -6 hours to dry.
  • Apply the second undiluted coat and allow a minimum of 6 hours to dry.
  • Apply the third undiluted coat, if necessary and allow a minimum of 24 hours to
    dry and cure.
  • Clean with water.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

  • Do not apply if rain is imminent as any rainfall or water will adversely affect the cohesive or bonding nature of the product during the time period required for drying of the product.
  • Do not dilute liquid rubber in any manner whatsoever.
  • Liquid rubber will be resistant to light rain after 6 hours.
  • Curing and bonding time depends on humidity, ambient temperature and surface.
  • During winter months do not apply liquid rubber early in the morning when dew and frost may be present. Do not continue to apply in the late afternoon as temperatures begin to fall, especially on iron roof/metal surface applications as this will have a negative effect on the adhesive or bonding nature of the product.
  • During the summer months do not apply liquid rubber during mid-day hours when surface temperatures exceed 50o C, as this will also have a negative effect on the adhesive or bonding nature of the product.
  • Raw fibre-cement surfaces should be properly cleaned and then primed before product is applied.
  • To ensure colour consistency, ensure that all products used by the consumer share the same batch number.

REGISTRATION AND VERIFICATION

After purchasing your Roof Rubber Liquid Rubber from an authorized reseller, the guarantee registration process must be completed, including uploading your invoice. This registration and verification document is available on our website – www.roofrubbersa.co.za .

  • Please download and complete the product registration and e-mail all relevant documentation to – registration@roofrubbersa.co.za .
  • Registration within 30 days of purchase, once 30 days have lapsed the product guarantee will automatically be invalid.
  • Once our offices received your registration you will then receive a confirmation email when the upload was successful.
  • If all sections on the new guarantee registration is not completed in full and correctly, including the invoice attached, the registration will not be valid.

LEGAL RESPONSIBILTY & EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY

Manufacturer do not accept liability for any damage(s) that arises from elements outside of its control. This exclusion from liability includes but is not limited to:

  • Fair wear and tear from elements such as extreme weather, hail, dew, dust, grime, gaseous or particulate pollutants, acid rain, incorrect use or cleaning and exceptional fungal infestation; hydrostatic or electrolytic damage; welding or other forms of heating fire, explosions or radiation; mechanical or physical damage, collision or other accidents; vandalism, malicious damage or damage caused by industrial actions; acts of God;
  • The failure of liquid rubber occurring in areas difficult to paint or prepare properly as a result of their features or which then contributes or leads to product failure in other areas;
  • Deterioration or failure of building components;
  • Condensation of infiltration of moisture in or through surrounding walls, copings, rooftop hardware or equipment, building structure or underlying or surrounding materials
  • Indirect or consequential damage to the consumer or any third party of any nature whatsoever;
  • Damage resulting from any disturbance of the surface due to any other substance or conditions that adversely or detrimentally affect the product;
  • Failure by the owner to use reasonable care in maintaining the product, maintenance, in accordance with the product specification.
  • The owner must ensure that the roof has a slope or drainage to drain water from the area of the roof where the product has been installed and to ensure that pounding and/or collecting of water does not take place, failing which manufacturers cannot be held liable for repairs in terms of this warrantee.
  • Any and all modifications to the product, i.e. tinting, diluting, blending.
  • Evidence that there was no defect with the product, but due to workmanship, any claim submitted by client will be denied.
  • Manufacturer`s liability is limited solely to the replacement of the product, liquid rubber, purchased to the extent of our depreciation sliding scale policy. See “Repairs Under Guarantee”.
  • This guarantee does not cover workmanship.

In the event of the consumer qualifying for the guarantee and submitting a successful and approved claim, manufacturer will provide replacement paint for re-coating necessary to repair the paint failure, subject to:

  • Claims being submitted to Roof Rubber within 30 days of the paint failure occurring;
  • The consumer must supply full detail(s) and photos of what is defective together with full details of the person who applied the product and such persons contact details as well as full reasons why manufacturer should be held liable for such defect;
  • The consumer allows Roof Rubber to determine the nature and extent of the damage and liability as well as the possible cause thereof; and
  • All product replacements, if end user qualify, must be done in accordance with Roof Rubber’s instructions.
  • At any given time where Roof Rubber is approached by the client and Roof Rubber is requested to carry out an overview, or a claim submitted by the client and Roof Rubber is obliged to carry out an overview, the travelling and inspection costs are for the client’s own account.
  • Depreciation calculated on the overall total m² painted, confirmed with the original invoice to total quantities purchased, at an average spreading rate of 60m² per 20LT Liquid
  • Rubber for 2 coats, for only Liquid Rubber product replacement, to a maximum of:
1-2 YEARS100% Product Replacement on total painted surface
2-3 YEARS80% Product Replacement on total painted surface
3-4 YEARS70% Product Replacement on total painted surface
4-5 YEARS50% Product Replacement on total painted surface
6-7 YEARS40% Product Replacement on total painted surface
7-8 YEARS30% Product Replacement on total painted surface
8-9 YEARS20% Product Replacement on total painted surface
9-10 YEARS10% Product Replacement on total painted surface
10 YEARS +0% Product Replacement on total painted surface

Example:
Depreciation calculated:
Area painted = 500m²
Painted surface in bracket of 4-5years = 50% Product Replacement on total painted surface.
Calculation:
500m² x 50% Depreciation = 250m²
250m² / 60m² average product coverage for 2 coats = 4 x 20LT liquid Rubber replacement
Product replacement only applicable on Liquid Rubber. All preparation products, like Latex Bonding
Liquid, Rust Converter & Etch Primer, Liquid Rubber Fibre Seal, Membranes etc. are for the
customers own account.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Keep paint away from children. Never smoke, drink or eat while painting. Wear protective overalls, gloves and goggles. If accidental contact with skin should occur, wash immediately with clean water. Harmful if swallowed. Do not induce vomiting. Consult your doctor. Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. Store in a cool, dry place out of the sun.
